Please don’t end … Please don’t end …PLEAAAAAAAASE

Have you ever read a book that was sooooooo good you couldn’t stop reading but you didn’t want to keep reading because you are worried it’s going to end?

This is how I felt while I was reading the book Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet . I absolulty LOVED it. all 950+ pages of it.

A page turner, I read it on the train, when I woke up, before I went to bed , at lunch time and even on the weekend.

It is a novel that occurs in the eleven hundereds which evolved around building a cathedral.

What I loved about this novel is the fact that every single good person in the book has plenty of faults but they were still able to be good and do good and overcome evil while the bad characters in the book were so bad that they never had an ounce of commpasion in their soul.

Full of defeats and tiumphs for both good and bad but who wins at the end? You have to read it to find out.

Nasty Words

I was reading this post and the blogger asked what are the 3 nasty words that make you cringe. The words aren’t necessarily meant to be disgusting but you always cringe when you hear them .

My words are:

1) Chafing .
Especially when used in the context chafing dish . It just sounds dirty!

2) Ooze.
Ewwwww.
Well, the only time I like the word ooze is if something is oozing with hot molten chocolate, that does not make me cringe.

3) Moist
I have to agree on this one, it’s just wrong, it sounds so gross. Try saying it three times in a row slowly while imagining something moist. It’s never a good image. Ewwwwwwwwwwwww.

So what words make you go ewwwwwwww?

The funniest blog EVER. Stuff God hates.

The new blog Stuff God Hates is soooooooo funny . Check it out. I am laughing out loud every time I read it.

WARNING : If you are religious you will be offended. If you are not religious you still might be offended so I hold no responsibility if anybody gets offended so enter at your own risk.

Enjoy!

What Makes Me Human

Princess N tagged me in what seems like 10 years ago to list 10 random weird things about me so here goes.

And oh, it’s not gonna be pretty!

1) I am afraid of the dark, especially after watching a horror movie. I have no problem with sitting in the dark, or sleeping in the dark, I am only scared when I have to move from room to room in the dark because the scary exorcist girl is going to get me. So when I am moving through the house I am lighting up the rooms as I go and then I turn off the lights and run to the next lit portion of the house, LOL.

2) I eat French toast with ketchup, yup, sometimes with mustard too. I don’t like it with syrup or powdered sugar. It’s not yucky, I mean it’s a piece of toast covered with egg and then fried, so why do people think I am gross when I tell them that? Makes no sense they feel grossed out.

(I couldn’t even insert a real pictureof a cockroach, I saw a picture on-line and my skin crawled)

3) I am deathly scared of cockroachs , like I would have a heart attack if I see one. I have no problem with mice or spiders or even snakes, I pet snakes, but put a cockroach in a room with me then I will confess to anything. Which reminds me, I have to share the story of 1:30 in the morning , me, sister 7aki and the cockroach.

4) When my glasses slip down I wiggle my nose to lift them up instead of using my hand, LOL. Try it, it’s very effective especially if your hands are busy, but try it in private, not a very attractive sight.

5) I have NEVER slipped and fell on ice, EVER. Isn’t that weird? I mean I am 32, lived in Canada for 7 years and I have yet to fall. Bizarre, and salloh 3ala ilnabi so you don’t i7sidoony.

6) I have telephobia. It is physically painful for me if I have to make a phone call. I have no issue at work but when it comes to personal calls I cringe if I have to return a call or make a social call. I HATE IT. I have no problem picking up the phone and answering a social call, but I hate making it which gets me in trouble all the time.

7) I used to have 2 different colored eyes , one was lighter than the other, until I was 9 or 10 years old. But now I don’t anymore. Or if I still do it’s not very noticeable.

8 ) If I am getting a needle, for a blood test or a shot, I have to look at the needle going in my arm, I just have to, I stare at it. Is this normal?

9) I am the worst person when it comes to surprises. If I buy lets say an anniversary present for hubs a bit early I can’t wait till the anniversary to give it to him, last anniversary I gave him his gift 5 days early , HAHAHHAHA. hopeless case. And if anybody gets me something and I know it’s in the house I go on a treasure hunt till I find it and take a sneak peak, that’s why my husband hides my presents at his work until the day comes.

10) I can’t make Arabic coffee to save my life, for real, I make it and it tastes like socks soaked in dirty water. I can make gourmet food but I can’t make Arabic coffee.

11) I like to eat fruit cake, hehehehe.

12) I can’t spell the word “business” EVER from the first go, yeah, I can’t, I tried and I can’t and I don’t know why this word is sooooooo hard to spell. Speaking of spelling, they say “I before E except after C” Well this is not true!!!!! “Weird” is a word with E before I and there is no C in sight. Who the hell makes these rules? BASTARDS.

So here you go , not 10, but 12 things that make me human, ummm, actually weird  :-P .

What makes you weird?

About Coming Out of The Closet

Being Gay anywhere in the world is not easy but it is extra difficult in the middle east and other conservative/religious countries.

I always wonder, is it harder to be a Gay man than a Gay woman? Is it easier for the women because in some way it’s kind of a bit more acceptable and is actually a fantasy for some men?

But what I want to talk about is that every human being has maternal/paternal instincts that are really strong. In countries where homosexuality is not accepted and in some cases is illegal and punishable by law you find a lot of gay people who get married just to satisfy that instinct and also to appear “normal” in the eyes of the society and chose to live a secret double life where they get to have the happy family life and  have a gay partner on the side.

There are a lot of Gay men who do it because it’s easier than facing society and it’s not only restricted to the countries mentioned above ; the latest case that was all over the  media was the Governor of New York who was married and had kids and just recently came out of the closet and admitted that he was Gay which put an end to his political career.

I think it is hurtfuland damaging to the kids and spouse when they find out the truth. The spouse who thinks they have a perfect marriage just to find out their partner is gay, the kids who, depending on their age, might have trouble understanding the situation.

The issue though is that Gay people are doomed if they do and doomed if they don’t.

If they choose to come out of the closet then they are shunned by society in countries that have no legal rights for gay partners , no gay marriage or any adoption laws which means they will never even dream of having a child On the other hand if they do get married and have children they are living a lie and deceiving everybody around them ; their kids, their spouse , but most importantly themselves.

I think that both decisions are hard but being true to oneself and to the people around you is the most important thing no matter at what cost.

The 2008 Olympic Torch Extinguished

Everybody knows how having the Olympics this year in China is causing a lot of protest because of the situation in Tibet. Two weeks ago the Chinese government killed 80 Tibetans who were trying to protest the Olympics. Since then the whole world especially Tibetan expatriates have been protesting the fact that the Olympics are being held in China and are calling the whole world to boycott the Olympics. It Appears that some countries might not boycott the whole Olympics but boycott the opening ceremony.

As you know the Olympic torch is carried from ancient Olympia in Greece and all the way to China through a number of countries. Yesterday the torch was being run through London where a protester , unsuccessfully, tried to grab the torch from the runner but was tackled down by the police. Just minutes later another protester tried to extinguish the flame with a fire extinguisher but was also unsuccessful and the torch made it

Today , as I write this, they are trying to run the torch through Paris but there are hundreds of protesters that they are unable to do it, twice already they tried to run a few blocks and then they are unable to advance so they have decided to extinguish the torch and board a bus.

It seems that they are unable to beat the masses so they might just bus it all the way to the site.

The Dalai Lama tells the masses that he is not with boycotting the Olympics because the actions of the Chinese government are not indicative of the Chinese people and that the people worked hard for it and deserve it, he just hopes that the government leaves Tibet alone.

I remember back in 2001 or 2002 when the Olympic bids were being made that there was a huge campaign to stop it from happening in China because of the situation in Tibet.

This is the one of the many times the Olympics are wrought with politics, one of the times was against Russia in 1980 when 62 countries boycotted the whole Olympics which only hurt the athletes and accomplished nothing. (Quick fact: Jordan made it’s Olympic debut that year )

Do you think these protests will accomplish anything or do you think politics should be separated from the Olympics?

Uncle Scrooge and the chewing gum

A guest post by 7aki’s sister

When I was about 8 or 9, I spent a lot of time at my grandparents, specially in the summer, I guess mama was trying to get rid of me or something :,-(

Whenever Grandpa left to work, Uncle scrooge (العم دهب) used to send me and my other uncle to go get gum and candy with our allowance, saying that he had the best idea for us to become very very rich.. so like the stupid little kids we were, we went to the store very happily and bought all the candy we could. Then he would wait till Grandma was busy with house work and made us sit on the sidewalk close to the house and SELL the stuff. This went on for about a week.. when we asked him for the money he said that he was saving it for us.. the Idiots we were!

So one Day my grandfather came back early from work and he saw me and my younger uncle selling gum and candy on the street and he went ballistic and started screaming at us “Don’t I give you enough money? Why are you doing this? Do you want us to look like beggars? Why do you want people to think that we are poor?…. etc.” at that point we were terrified and did not realize that what we were doing was wrong.. so we both started crying and told him that it was scrooge’s idea. Hearing this, Scrooge disappeared and was nowhere to be found for the whole day. By then Grandpa calmed down and only told him that it was wrong and he should never do it again.

Till this day, my mother has no idea that her own daughter sold gum and candy on the street.

Yeeeeee.. Fdee7a 8O

And Then There Were Two

Monday was a very very sad sad day.

Words can’t describe the saddness I am feeling right now. Sadness and despair.

It will never be the same , life as I know it has ended and a new phase has begun.

William and I are sad to announce that Bob no longer works at the 7aki office anymore, sniff sniff, he moved on to, hopefully, sniff sniff , greener pastures.

Who is going to entertain me when I am comatose every day between 2:45 and 3:00?

Who will help me tease William? I mean now if I make fun of William it’s not funny anymore cos there’s nobody to laugh at my jokes.

Who will throw me chocolates from his cubicle almost poking my eye out?

Who am I going to make racist jokes about?

Who’s gonna hear me bitch and whine till I depress him so I feel better and also watch me get fat ?

It’s indeed a sad sad affair.

But I am committing Bob to blog about his new job and tell us how miserable he is without us and about the freaks he will have at his new job, we love to talk about freaks, hehehehe.

We will miss you buddy.

Good luck

The Return of the Plug-in

Remember the whole dilemma with the Glade Plugin? Remember how I said it will be back?

Guess what! It’s BAAAAAAAAAAAAACK. And where? Right outside our bedroom door.

888974.jpeg

Sigh.

I think he does it on purpose because I am a pretty spoiled (daloo3a) (heheheh, it’s true) and he wants to get back at me for all the things I made him go through in the past 2 months, well in the past 7 years would be more accurate.

The real question is why do I find it so funny and cute that he is sooooooo OCD. I mean another woman might have killed him already or run to the hills but I don’t, I find it so darn cute that he does all the “Freak” things he does. Seriously, CUTE!

Well OK maybe I wanted to kill him a couple of times, maybe yelled at him occasionally, but he is still SO cute.

Man I think those pregnancy hormones are A’ raging right now. OCD is Cute????? HAHAHAHAHA.

I’m hungry, I am going to go eat a shawerma sandwich right now, yuummmmmmmmmm.
