My Favorite Books of 2009

OK this title could be misleading because most of the books I read in 2009 have been published for years but none the less they affected me in 2009 one way or another.

Click on the links to read my reviews of the books.

The Blind Assassin

Such a complex book!

His Dark Materials

Surprisingly very Philosophical for a childrens book.

A Fine Balance

A very good book. I couldn’t put it down. Depressing though but not in a “I want to kill myself” way

Murder in the Name of Honour

I hope this will be the first book of many for Rana.

To Kill a Mocking Bird

Oh how I loved this book. I loved it sooooo much. If you will pick just one book from this list to read pick this one!

The Boy in The Striped Pyjamas

This is such a sad sad book. What a sad story. Amazing though. Honestly it breaks your heart.

Go read something, it makes you love you more.

Love

PS:  Shut up. Yes I am still doing 2009 favorites.  I think it’ll be 2011 before I finish but I WILL POST THEM DAMMIT!

  1. Thanks for the ideas. I haven’t read any of them (how funny is that?) Maybe I’ll do a 2009 post in another month just to make you feel better, teehee. After all, I never even started.

  2. To Kill A Mockingbird

I watched ” The Boy in The Striped Pyjamas”, should I still read the book?

I also watched “the lovely bones” and The book is on my queue, have you seen/read it?

so bi ma innik fahmaneh bi hai il mawadee3, what do you think of the “watching then reading” process? :))

  5. His Dark Materials is one of the most brilliant books I’ve ever read, it is constantly crossing my mind, years after I finished the books.

  6. nido: Hehehehehe. You have to read the book ” The Boy in The Striped Pajamas”. I listened to it via audio book and it was amazing. Check if your public library has the audio book.
I like to read first then watch because film directors always change the book. But that’s me.

    Goodbye forever.

Roba: How far back did you read it? You should re-read it again as an adult because you will think of it differently most probably.

  7. ‘to kill a mocking bird’ that was around 15 years ago at school, spellbinding!
